SEO Tips
Long Term SEO
Once you completed the first phase of the SEO on your website it is important to draw up the next phase of the optimisation. This should be on going for as long as the site is online. There will be many other sites out there in your market place that are optimising already, if there are not then this is a good time to cement yourself in those number one spots so when another site does try and compete with you - they will have a tough time in gaining those top spots.
- Link building should be carried out for as long as the site is online, targeting keyphrases over a long period of time will allow you to be competitive well into the future. Alternating the keyphrases on a monthly basis is a good idea, one month I may attack long term seo the next month I may go for long term optimisation. By doing this I would hope to get a good covering of keyphrases.
- Adding new content when ever you can is a great way to make sure that the search engine spiders will visit the site often, with Google this will result in a fresh date in the results and even a temporary boost in rankings. Dont forget this is a great way to retain visitors, people always want to read up to date information.
- Thinking about time sensitive campaigns that you are running off line is a good way to ensure that your website is ready for the searches that will take place in the future. For example, if you run a christmas website, you are constantly thinking about those last four months of the year. Adding new content about this years hot toy in June and getting good rankings will mean you have a fighting chance of staying there for the end of the year.
- Tweaking the site in small ways can make all the difference when trying to get from the top of page two to the middle of page one. Moving the text around in the title tags or rewriting the Meta description tag can have an influence or even just pointing one more internal link to the home page with some good keyworded text. Remember that it can also have a negative impact, you may drop a few places, if you do - just revert back to the way the page used to be and you should regain those rankings.
